Ingredients
  

  • 80 g soft butter
  • 200 g brown sugar
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ΒΌ tsp ground cinnamon for topping
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 5 medium green apples peeled

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 175C and line a loaf tin with greaseproof paper.
  • Cream butter and 200g sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs.
  • Sift in flour, 2 tsp cinnamon, and baking powder.
  • Grate 3 apples and mix into batter.
  • Transfer batter to tin and tap to remove air bubbles.
  • Slice remaining apples, arrange on top, and sprinkle with extra cinnamon and sugar.
  • Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

This teacake is best served warm or at room temperature.
