Easy Honey Garlic Chicken Breast

Ava Thompson
An incredible quick and easy way to serve up chicken breast - seared then simmered in an amazing honey garlic sauce. Don't be deceived by the short ingredient list! It's absolutely worth the extra step of dusting the chicken with flour to create a crust for the sauce to cling to.

Ingredients

  • 500 g boneless skinless chicken breast (2 pieces)
  • salt
  • pepper
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 3 ½ tbsp unsalted butter (or olive oil)
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 ½ tbsp apple cider vinegar (or other clear vinegar)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce light or all-purpose
  • cup honey (or maple syrup)

Instructions

  • Cut the chicken breasts in half horizontally to create 4 steaks. Sprinkle each side with salt and pepper.
  • Coat chicken in flour and shake off excess.
  • Melt most of the butter in a large skillet over high heat, reserving 1 tsp for later.
  • Add chicken to skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until golden. Flip and cook for 1 minute.
  • Reduce heat to medium high, add garlic and remaining butter, and stir briefly.
  • Add vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Bring to a simmer and cook for 1 minute or until slightly thickened.
  • Turn chicken to coat in sauce. If sauce is too thick, add a bit of water.
  • Remove from heat and drizzle remaining sauce over chicken on plates.

Notes

For gluten-free, use cornstarch instead of flour. This sauce works well with other proteins like beef, pork, lamb, prawns, shrimp, or firm tofu.
