This sesame chicken is crispy pieces tossed in a sweet and savory honey sesame sauce. It's even better than what you would get at a restaurant!

Ingredients
  

Chicken

  • 1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • oil for frying

Sauce

  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp minced fresh garlic
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce (reduced sodium if possible)
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp sliced green onions

Instructions
 

  • Combine eggs, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  • Mix flour and cornstarch in a shallow bowl.
  • Dip chicken pieces in egg mixture, then in flour. Repeat until all chicken is coated.
  • Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F. Fry chicken in batches for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
  • Drain chicken on paper towels.
  • While chicken cooks, mix honey, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and cornstarch in a bowl.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a pan, add garlic, cook for 30 seconds, then add the sauce mix and simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  • Toss the crispy chicken in the sauce, sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions, then serve.

Notes

The sauce can be made up to two days in advance.
